Two-Spirit / Two-Spirited
Two-Spirit, a translation of the Anishinaabeg (Ojibwe) term niizh manidoowag, refers to a person who embodies both a masculine and feminine spirit. Similar terms exist in several Indigenous cultures and can designate for example people who live their diversity, it can be sexual, gender spiritual or in their non gendered role. It can designate also Indigenous people who are LGBTQ2SIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, twospirited, intersex, asexual, intersex, etc.)
We wish to better understand life experiences of Two Spirit people and sexual and gender diversity into Indigenous cultures in Quebec in order to compare different interpretations.
Starting November 2019, we will work on a study about Two-Spirit and sexual diversity LGBTQ2SIA… for information: firstname.lastname@example.org
